Mack Kast Is a University of Toronto graduate, a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and a past Chair of the Canadian Financial Executives Institute. He developed his career in the utility industry and has held executive positions with various companies, most notable of which included Centra Gas Manitoba and Manitoba
Mack Kast Is a University of Toronto graduate, a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and a past Chair of the Canadian Financial Executives Institute. He developed his career in the utility industry and has held executive positions with various companies, most notable of which included Centra Gas Manitoba and Manitoba Hydro. He has also held senior regulatory positions with the Ontario Energy Board, and the Alberta Public Utilities Board. Subsequent to his full-time career in the energy industry, he has continued his involvement in a consulting role through engagements with Kenya Power & Light, and as Managing Director with the Transmission Company of Nigeria. To a lesser extent, he has also been engaged with energy projects in Mozambique, Liberia, Tanzania and Newfoundland. .

He has worked with upper levels of utility management, government agencies, international financial banks and development agencies, regulators and various other key stakeholders in the daily system operation and strategic planning of power system expansions and reinforcements, which provided technical and/or economic/financial support to decision makers on their operations, policies, investment plans and/or tariff settings/applications.

Kassem is a Professional Engineer with a Master Degree in Business Administration; and over 30 years of experience in Project & Contract Management within the Electric (hydro and natural gas fired power stations, dams, and transmission and distribution network) and Natural Gas (transmission and distribution pipelines and regulator stations) industries; and in both the private and public/crown sectors. Kassem worked in Canada, Guyana, Mozambique, Tanzania, and Lebanon; and managed and led many professionals, trades and consultants towards successful project completions.
Kassem's other expertises and skills include corporate strategic planning, divisional planning, process improvement, development of safe work procedures and technical specifications, contract/tender preparation, project management training, etc.

He has led successful initiatives to enhance maintenance procedures and system performance in National Grid Saudi Arabia, managed HVDC projects, and improved dispatcher operations for GCCIA.
As the Managing Director of a Transmission Service Provider in Nigeria, he enhanced a vast transmission network's reliability and efficiency. He played a crucial role in the unbundling of the Transmission Company of Nigeria and engaged in substantial capital expansion efforts.
